Relaxation Music for Dogs
(Music Therapy for Dogs)
There are a variety of remedies to alleviate the stress your dog feels, and one of these is music. Carefully selected music may positively influence their mood and help them relax, for example, when they are left home alone.

That music can have a mental effect on animals was exemplified by the study of Uetake et al. (1997) who demonstrated that dairy cows exposed to soothing music were more willing to be milked. Various accounts exist of other animals, such as birds, and apes, that take a particular interest in music.

The effect of four kinds of music on the behavior of dogs was analysed by the scientists from the School of Psychology of Queen's University in Belfast.  According to the study classical music contributes to and encourages relaxation in dogs including less barking and increased resting periods. Heavy metal music, by contrast, resulted in more agitated behaviours, including increased barking and longer periods of time standing. As for pop music or human conversation, neither of them had any apparent effect on the dogs' behavior, according to the researchers.

The following CDs contain music with soothing soundtracks to lessen the stress of and problem behavior in your dog and increase the positive brainwaves that elicit feelings of well beings in dogs.
